Shortage Of Domestic Gas In Patna, Supply Increased Yet Backlog Crossed 1.5 Lakh

Despite improvement in the supply of domestic gas cylinders in Patna, there remains a backlog of more than 1.5 lakh. Consumers have got partial relief, but the long waiting list is a challenge for the administration. The backlog on Friday stood at 1,53,713, a decrease of 1,427 in a day. Reducing the waiting list is still a major challenge due to increasing demand.

Jagran correspondent, Patna. Despite continuous improvement in the supply of domestic gas cylinders in the district, the backlog remains above 1.5 lakh. Consumers are certainly getting partial relief, but the long waiting list remains a challenge for the administration.

According to the latest data, the total backlog increased to 1,53,713 on Friday, while it was 1,52,286 on Thursday. That is, the backlog decreased by 1,427 in a day, which is a sign of improvement in supply.

On Friday, 39,670 cylinders were received, while 34,018 cylinders were sold. In comparison, only 32,231 cylinders were received on Thursday.

Waiting list remains at 1,11,884

If we look at the company wise situation, Indian Oil Corporation Limited (IOCL) got 23,049 cylinders, while 24,397 were sold. Despite this, its waiting list remains at 1,11,884. At Bharat Petroleum Corporation Limited (BPCL), the waiting number has increased to 31,671 with receipt of 7,767 cylinders and sale of 8,848.

At the same time, Hindustan Petroleum Corporation Limited (HPCL) received 3,202 cylinders, while 6,425 were sold, taking its waiting list to 10,158.

The administration says that the supply is being continuously improved and special efforts will be made to reduce the backlog in the coming days. However, reducing the waiting list due to increasing demand still remains a major challenge.
