On Saturday, along with inaugurating its Phase-1, Prime Minister Narendra Modi will also inaugurate the cargo terminal of the airport and lay the foundation stone of the Maintenance, Repair and Overhauling (MRO) facility.

On this occasion, Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath will also be present, under whose leadership and guidance this project has progressed rapidly. This project will prove to give a new direction to the connectivity and economic development of not only UP, NCR but also the entire North India.

State's fifth international airport

Noida International Airport received in-principle approval from the Government of India in May 2018. The project is being developed in four phases on which a total of Rs 29,560 crore will be spent. The airport is being developed with modern, digital and energy efficient technologies. With the inauguration of Jewar Airport by PM Modi, Uttar Pradesh will become the first state in the country to have 5 international airports.

Will have capacity of 1.2 crore passengers

Rs 6,876 crore is being spent by the concessionaire on the development of the airport in Phase-1, while the Uttar Pradesh government has spent Rs 4,406 crore on land acquisition. Thus, the total cost of Phase-1 is estimated to be approximately Rs 11,282 crore, in which an initial capacity of 12 million (1.2 crore) passengers per year has been developed.

Multi-modal connectivity will provide big benefits

This airport will be a state-of-the-art multi-modal transport hub of the country, where road, rail, metro and regional transit systems have been seamlessly integrated. This will drastically reduce time and cost for both passenger and cargo transportation.

Industry will get boost from cargo hub and MRO

Prime Minister Modi will also inaugurate the cargo terminal of the airport and lay the foundation stone of the MRO facility. The initial capacity of the multi-modal cargo hub developed at the airport will be 2.5 lakh metric tonnes per annum, which can be increased to 18 lakh metric tonnes. Also, with the MRO facility to be developed in an area of 40 acres, maintenance, repair and overhauling of aircraft will be possible in the country itself. This will promote self-reliance in the aviation sector.

A new center for industrial and service sector will be built

This airport, being developed in Yamuna Authority area, will give new impetus to the surrounding industrial sectors. The operation of Noida International Airport will increase employment opportunities, boost manufacturing and exports, make air traffic more accessible and give a new impetus to the tourism sector. In this way, this airport will prove to give new strength to the economy of Uttar Pradesh.

On this occasion, Government of India's Civil Aviation Minister Kinjarapu Rammohan Naidu, Minister of State for Finance Pankaj Chaudhary, Uttar Pradesh Governor Anandi Ben Patel, Deputy Chief Ministers Keshav Prasad Maurya and Brajesh Pathak and other ministers and public representatives will be present.
