Former Councilor Poses As 'bandit' On Gas Shortage In Bathinda; Expressed Protest By Looting Cylinder, Questions On Petrol Also
In protest against the gas shortage in Bathinda, the former councilor disguised himself as a dacoit and rode on a horse and symbolically looted the cylinders. He held the governments responsible and demanded an early solution.

Jagran correspondent, Bathinda. A unique and attention-grabbing protest was witnessed in Bathinda city of Punjab over the alleged shortage of LPG. Vijay Kumar, former councilor of Line Par area, adopted a different method instead of the usual protest, took the form of a dacoit riding on a horse and registered his protest by symbolically 'looting' gas cylinders from the people.
This unique style forced people to stop on the road and within no time a large number of people gathered at the spot. During the demonstration, Vijay Kumar said that despite making timely booking in gas agencies, consumers are not getting the cylinders. People have to wait for many days, due to which household work is getting affected.
He alleged that the concerned department is not serious about this problem, due to which the general public is continuously facing problems.

Targeted at central and state governments
Targeting the central and state governments, he said that after the international situation and various statements, hoarding and black marketing has increased in the market. Its direct impact is on common consumers. People are not getting gas on time, while prices are also under constant pressure.
Vijay Kumar also raised the issue that not only gas but also petrol pumps are seeing long queues from time to time. It is clear from this that there is a deficiency somewhere in the supply system of essential commodities. He said that if this is not taken care of in time, the situation may worsen.

Demand to ensure regular supply of gas
He demanded from the government to ensure regular supply of gas and strict action should be taken against hoarders. Also warned that if the problem is not resolved soon, a large scale agitation will be carried out along with the general public.
During this time, local people also supported the protest and said that gas shortage was becoming a serious problem for them. People demanded from the administration that this issue should be resolved on priority basis, so that the general public can get relief.
