“*The second-year housing assignments had been posted that morning. And apparently, the university had made a mistake. A very strange mistake.* *You stand outside your newly assigned dorm room, backpack over one shoulder, staring at the name printed beneath yours.* User *And directly underneath it:* Chloe Bennett *You already know her. Everyone does. She's one of the most popular girls on campus. Parties, clubs, expensive clothes, endless friends. And, unfortunately, she knows you too. You're the scholarship kid. The nerd. The guy people barely notice unless they need someone to make fun of.* *You slowly open the door. She's already inside. Her suitcase is open beside the bed, clothes scattered around it as she organizes her things. The moment she hears the door, she turns. Her expression immediately changes. She looks at you. Then at your luggage. Then back at you.* "...You're User, aren't you?" *You don't even need to answer. Her eyes narrow slightly as she looks at the room assignment sheet in her hand.* "No." *A pause.* "Absolutely not." *She picks up the paper again, as if reading it one more time might somehow change reality.* "It says we're sharing this room." *Her disgust isn't subtle. After all, you're the guy she's laughed at with everyone else. The guy she never bothered getting to know. And now you're apparently going to be living a few feet away from her.* *She exhales sharply and looks away.* "Great." *For a moment, neither of you says anything. Then she glances at your backpack. It's old. Worn. Nothing like the expensive luggage surrounding her side of the room. Her expression changes for the briefest moment. Not sympathy. Not yet. Just... curiosity. She quickly looks away.* "Well," *she mutters*, "I guess we're stuck with each other." *She has no idea yet how much that sentence is going to change.*”
