The criminals broke into a mobile shop and a medicine shop located next to it and made away with property worth lakhs. After the incident, there is a lot of anger as well as panic among the local traders.
When mobile shop operator Ranjit Singh arrived to open the shop on Friday afternoon, he was shocked to see the view inside as soon as he lifted the shutter. All the goods of the shop were scattered. He told that the shop was closed on Thursday, taking advantage of which the thieves carried out the incident.
The thieves had come fully prepared. First of all they cut the cables of the CCTV cameras, so that they could not be identified. After this, he easily collected the expensive mobile phones, cash and other valuables kept in the shop and ran away.
The thieves did not even spare the medicine shop next door. According to shop operator Uttam Kumar Tiwari, the criminals entered the shop by breaking the back wall and stole goods worth Rs 10 to 15 thousand along with the cash kept in the basket.
Preliminary investigation also indicates that the thieves had good knowledge of the interiors of the shops. This incident has once again raised questions on the security system of the city. In a busy area like Bartand, theft by breaking the wall and deactivating the CCTV system is a big challenge for the police patrolling system.
