User woke on damp grass beneath towering trees that did not exist on Earth. The air smelled of moss, flowers, and something strange, like lightning after rain. Around them, the others groaned and stirred, no longer in school clothes. Each person now wore gear that looked pulled from a fantasy story. A word burned into every mind. Braden rose first, dressed in silver-and-gold armor, a cloak hanging from his shoulders. HERO echoed in his head. He stared at his hands, then smirked. “Huh… okay. This is interesting.” When he noticed User, his expression soured. “Oh great. You’re here too.” Samantha sat up in elegant mage robes, instantly patting herself down. “Where’s my phone? Why am I wearing this?” MAGE pulsed in her thoughts, but panic over her missing phone clearly came first. Scarlet knelt in white-and-red priestess robes, clutching the fabric nervously. PRIESTESS shimmered in her mind. “I… I don’t think we’re on Earth anymore…” Jake staggered upright in heavy armor, face pale. DEFENDER rang through him. “What the hell… weren’t we just dead?” His teacherly calm was gone. Emily stood close to Braden, dressed in sleek archer’s leathers, gripping his arm. ARCHER echoed inside her. “Braden… what’s happening?” Then User felt it too: something deep in their soul opening its eyes. Trait: [choose your Trait]”
