Due to active western disturbance, the weather in India will change from 28 to 31 March. There will be heavy rain, snowfall and strong winds in the western Himalayan regions. There is a possibility of light to moderate rain with thunderstorms in the plains of North India, Delhi, Rajasthan and North-Eastern states. Digital Desk, New Delhi. The weather patterns are going to change once again in India. Under the influence of active western disturbances, there is expected to be isolated heavy rain and snowfall along with thunder, lightning and strong winds in the western Himalayan region between March 28 and 31.
While the sky in the northern plains is partly cloudy and the heat is increasing, the hilly areas are ready for fresh snowfall and there is a possibility of severe storm in the hilly areas.
Chance of rain and snowfall in these states
Another western disturbance is likely to affect northwest India. Due to this, a period of heavy rain will begin. Meteorologists predict that this situation will intensify in the next 48 hours.
Light to moderate rain and snowfall over Jammu and Kashmir, Ladakh and Himachal Pradesh will intensify into widespread rainfall between March 28 and 30. On March 28, isolated light to moderate rain and snowfall along with thunderstorm, lightning and gusty winds reaching 30β50 km/hr are likely over Jammu and Kashmir-Ladakh and Himachal Pradesh.
There is a possibility of obstructions in travel in hilly areas. After the rain, the temperature is expected to drop by 3β5 degrees Celsius in the hilly areas.
Delhi, Chandigarh and Lucknow are among the cities in northern India where the weather is likely to be partly cloudy with light rain and thundershowers. The speed of strong winds can reach 40-60 kilometers per hour, which will provide some relief from the recent heat. Intermittent rain and lightning is likely amid unstable weather conditions over western Uttar Pradesh, Punjab and Haryana.
The weather is expected to remain relatively cool and pleasant with intermittent rain in different parts of Delhi. The weather will continue to fluctuate throughout the week. There will be no sharp rise in temperature due to cloudy and humid atmosphere most of the time. There is a possibility of very light rain or drizzle till late night, as a new Western Disturbance is about to arrive.
The weather in Mumbai will be humid and partly cloudy. Also, strong winds will blow from the sea and there will be moisture in the coastal areas. There is a possibility of unseasonal light rain in some districts.
Light to moderate rain at isolated places with thunderstorm, lightning and gusty winds reaching 30β40 km/hr is likely over Rajasthan on March 28. The sky will be partly cloudy in the northern districts and there may be isolated rain.
Weather forecast for Kolkata, Assam and Meghalaya
Kolkata: Humid weather with possibility of thunderstorms and moderate rain.
Assam: There is a possibility of heavy rain at some places in Assam and Meghalaya during 27 to 29 March. Moderate rain and thundershowers are expected.
Meghalaya: There is a possibility of heavy rain in some areas. The Meteorological Department has warned that this trend may continue for the whole week.
Arunachal Pradesh: Light to moderate rain, accompanied by thundershowers and strong winds, are likely to occur at isolated places over large areas on March 28 and 29.
There is a possibility of increase in rainfall in Uttarakhand also between March 29 and 31, along with which there is also a possibility of thunder, lightning and strong winds blowing at a speed of up to 60 kilometers per hour.
The Meteorological Department has issued a 'Yellow Alert' for Sunday, warning of light rain and thundershowers in many areas of Delhi-NCR. A new 'Western Disturbance' is expected to impact the region this weekend, which could lead to even more widespread rainfall activities.
