Sixth Arrest In Kanpur Fake Marksheet Case, SIT Nabs Middleman With Aligarh Connection

Sheku alias Mohd, another middleman of the fake marksheet gang in Kanpur. Azharuddin Khan has been arrested by SIT from Naubasta. He used to get fake mark sheets of 10th-12th class from Jamia Urdu College, Aligarh. This is the sixth arrest in this case. Police had earlier raided Shell Group of Education and recovered thousands of fake marksheets.

The arrested accused has been identified as Sheku alias Md. Azharuddin Khan, resident of Chamanganj, who used to prepare mark sheets of class 10th and 12th from Jamia Urdu College, Aligarh.

Apart from this, during interrogation, he also told the name of another contract worker associated with the college, Shoaib, resident of Aligarh, who is being searched. The SIT team says that after Shoaib is caught, the role of the college staff will be known.

Kidwai Nagar Police had busted the fraud by raiding the office of Shell Group of Education located in Juhi Gaushala on February 18. From the spot, the police had recovered more than a thousand mark sheets and degrees of 14 universities of nine states, Uttar Pradesh Secondary Education Council, Prayagraj and Jamia Urdu College of Aligarh. These included degrees of B.Tech, M.Tech, BPharma, D.Pharma, LLB etc. as well as high school and intermediate marksheets.

The police have first arrested the four accused gang leader Shailendra Kumar Ojha, Nagesh Mani Tripathi, Jogendra, Ashwani Kumar Singh and then Noida Vineet and sent them to jail. Here, during the interrogation of the accused after the arrest, the name of Chamanganj resident Sheku alias Md. Azharuddin Khan, who used to work as a middleman for the kingpin Shailendra, came to light.

On Friday, the SIT team searching for him got information about his leaving the city, after which the team was chasing him. Here, with the help of the surveillance team, he was arrested from Naibasta elevated bridge on the basis of location. SIT in-charge and ADCP South Yogesh Kumar said that during interrogation, the accused has confessed to working for Shailendra.

Told that he came in contact with a young man named Tabish from the area while getting his marksheet made and then started working for him. He had got 10th and 12th mark sheets made, in return for which he used to get Rs 12,000. After this, by paying Rs 10,000 to Shoaib, he used to get the mark sheet made and provide it to Shailendra. Apart from this, information has also been received that the accused is associated with Sarvepalli Radhakrishnan University of Bhopal.

During the raid, no mark sheet or degree was found there. Despite this, the university will be contacted to collect information about its role. At the same time, teams have been deployed in search of Shoaib, after whose arrest, clear information will be available about the role of the college staff.

Only two degrees out of 371 in CSJMU were found to be fake.

SIT in-charge Yogesh Kumar said that during the raid, 371 degrees of Chhatrapati Shahuji Maharaj University, Kanpur (CSJMU) were found. In their verification, 369 degrees were found to be correct, while two degrees were found to be fake. One of them is BA. More information is being collected about the fake degree. At the same time, after taking the accused on remand, they will be interrogated about fake degrees.
