Big Decision Of Moradabad Court In Mainather Riots 2011 Case: Life Imprisonment To 16 Culprits

In the Mainather riots 2011 case of Moradabad, the court of ADJ-2 Krishna Kumar has sentenced 16 convicts to life imprisonment. The mob attacked the police accusing them of insulting the Quran, in which many policemen including the then DIG Ashok Kumar were injured. This decision, which came after 15 years, has created disappointment in the families of the culprits.

ADJ-II Krishna Kumar's court has sentenced all the 16 accused to life imprisonment in the riot that took place on July 6, 2011 in village Asalatnagar Bagha of Mainather. The mob resorted to violence against the police who had gone to arrest the accused of molesting a girl, accusing them of insulting the Quran.

They surrounded the police and carried out a deadly attack and snatched the pistol of the then DIG Ashok Kumar and beat him to death. After declaring the accused guilty, the police have sent both the absconding culprits to jail.

18 people including DIG, 10 policemen were injured in this incident. The DIG's car, Mainather police station's jeep, PAC van and Dingarpur police post were vandalized and set on fire. Meanwhile, the then DM Rajashekhar was accused of abandoning the DIG and running away. Three accused died during the hearing. The file of six minors is separate.

Police had arrived to raid the village

On July 6, 2011, the police team had gone to raid the house of the accused of molesting a girl in the village. Then the women started creating ruckus by accusing the police of insulting the Quran. A crowd from the entire village gathered. After this, a crowd of village people reached Pakbada intersection of Dingarpur and started creating ruckus by blocking the Sambhal-Moradabad road. People clashed with the police and pelted stones. There was also firing.

The then DIG Ashek Kumar and DM Rajashekhar had gone to handle the situation.

The then DIG Ashok Kumar and DM Rajashekhar, who had gone to control the situation, were surrounded by the mob. Seeing himself trapped from all sides, the DM managed to escape with his team. At the same time, the DIG was surrounded with his staff. The miscreants had targeted the DIG and policemen. To save his life, the DIG entered a room of the petrol pump. The mob broke the door and took the DIG out. Started beating them.

The mob had looted government weapons

DIG Ashok Kumar took out his pistol and tried to fire in the air, but the mob looted the government weapon. When he became unconscious, they considered him dead and went away. In the disturbance, the police had registered an FIR against 33 accused on the complaint of DIG PRO Ravi Kumar.

Chargesheet was filed against 25 on October 2011

The case was investigated by Inspector Rajesh Kumar Chaudhary. On October 1, 2011, a charge sheet was filed in the court against 25. On March 23, the court had convicted 16 accused. Also, the order for sentencing was given on March 27, but due to Friday being a holiday, the hearing started at 12 noon on Saturday. All the culprits were taken to the court amid tight security. At 1 pm the court sentenced all the culprits to life imprisonment.

The court approved Manzoor Ahmed resident of Dingarpur, Mohammad Ali, Hashim resident of Lalwara Mainather, Mohammad Kamrul, Mohammad Muzeef resident of Masebi Rasoolpur Mainather, Mohammad Yunus, Rizwan resident of Lalpur Mainather, Ambrish resident of Shahpur Chamran, Qasim resident of Pariawali Asmoli Sambhal, Mohammad Mobeen alias Mohammad Mohsin resident of Barkheda Didauli Amroha, Mohammad Mujeeb, resident of Tehzeeb Alam. Asadpur Mainather, Milak Nawab Mainather resident of Jaane Alam, Firoz resident of Taharpur Mainather and Mohammad Nazim resident of Asadpur Mainather.
