Nepal's new Prime Minister Balendra Shah has expressed his eagerness to work together with India. He thanked PM Narendra Modi for congratulating him after the swearing-in. He also thanked PM Narendra Modi for congratulating him after the swearing-in ceremony. Actually, PM Modi had congratulated Balendra Shah after the swearing-in ceremony on Friday. Along with this, there was talk of working together to advance India-Nepal relations.

I look forward to working closely with you for the shared prosperity of our people, and to advance the multi-faceted relationship between our two countries." India is an important country for Nepal for the interests of both the countries.

Nepal is largely dependent on India for transportation

Nepal is largely dependent on India for transportation of goods and services. Landlocked Nepal's only access to the sea is through India, and it imports a large part of its needs from and through India.

It is noteworthy that Balendra is the first democratically elected Prime Minister after the youth-led 'Gen Z' protests in Nepal. Earlier in September last year, the coalition government led by former Prime Minister Oli was ousted from power. The change came after youth-led 'Gen Z' protests against corruption, nepotism and restrictions on social media.
