State Bureau, Lucknow. The annual examinations for the academic session 2025-26 have almost been completed in the council and recognized schools run by the Uttar Pradesh Basic Education Council. Now a special examination is being conducted on March 28 for the students of class V and VIII.
This special examination will be held only in 18 districts of the state, Agra, Aligarh, Ayodhya, Azamgarh, Bareilly, Basti, Chitrakoot, Gonda, Gorakhpur, Jhansi, Kanpur Nagar, Lucknow, Meerut, Mirzapur, Moradabad, Prayagraj, Saharanpur and Varanasi.
The examinations of other districts and other classes have already been completed. In this examination, mathematics and social subjects for class five students and mathematics and science examination for class eight students will be conducted on the same day.
According to the Council, this examination is a kind of educational assessment experiment, through which an attempt will be made to understand what the level of education of children really is, especially how strong is their understanding in mathematics, science and social subjects.
For the first time, separate examinations are being conducted in limited districts so that the quality of education can be realistically assessed and the direction for future improvement can be decided.
Another feature of this examination is that the list of toppers will be released at the district level. Apart from this, a topper list will also be prepared at the state level of the students getting the highest marks from 18 districts. The Council also plans to give incentive amount to these meritorious students, so that interest in studies increases among the children and they can get inspiration for better performance.
This will not only increase children's interest in subjects like mathematics and science, but will also reveal the actual level of education. With this, weak areas can be identified and concrete steps can be taken to improve them and students' confidence will also increase along with competition.
