'Balen Era' Begins In Nepal, 35 Year Old Balendra Shah Will Take Oath As Prime Minister Today

PTI, Kathmandu. Balendra Shah 'Balen' will be sworn in as Nepal's youngest elected Prime Minister on Friday. Elected leader of the parliamentary party of the Rashtriya Swatantra Party.

According to President's Office sources, Balen will be sworn in as Prime Minister on Friday during a special ceremony at the President's Office, Sheetal Niwas.

Secretariat sources said Balen may form a small cabinet with the strength of 15 to 18 ministers. Rashtriya Swatantra Party (RSP) Central Organization Committee Secretary Shankar Shrestha said that the RSP Central Committee formed the parliamentary party immediately after the swearing-in ceremony of the newly elected HoR members.

Balen was unanimously elected leader in the parliamentary party meeting. Rapper-turned-politician Balen, 35, has been given full powers to form a new cabinet under his leadership.

Newly elected members of the HoR, including senior RSP leader Ballen, took the oath of office at the federal parliament building, starting the government formation process three weeks after voting ends.

Arjun Narsingh KC, the senior-most member of the HOR, administered the oath of office and secrecy to the newly elected MPs at the Parliament Secretariat. He won a landslide victory in the elections held on March 5. He will be the first person from the Madhes region to hold the top post in the country.
