Rupali Chakankar has resigned from the post of state president of NCP women's wing after criticism over her alleged links with rape accused astrologer Ashok Kharat. He took this step after Shiv Sena UBT's allegations and demands from party officials. Chakankar described the allegations as baseless, but stepped down after discussions with Sunetra Pawar. Rupali Chakankar, who is facing criticism over her alleged links with rape accused astrologer Ashok Kharat, has resigned from the post of state president of the women's wing of the Nationalist Congress Party. NCP leader Rupali Chakankar has taken this step after serious allegations made by Shiv Sena (UBT).

Rupali Chakankar wrote, "On the very first day the Kharat case came to light, I had made my stand clear on the matter. I have no connection with his financial dealings or any kind of wrongdoing. All the facts will come out during the investigation, but it is sad to see that some baseless allegations are being made against me."
He wrote, "I have already told the Chief Minister, Deputy Chief Minister and Director General of Police that Kharat's case should be investigated in an impartial manner."

Demand for removal of Rupali Chakankar
Let us tell you that some NCP officials from Nashik, Ahilyanagar and some other districts had written a letter to Sunetra demanding the removal of Rupali Chakankar from the post of state president of women's wing. He claimed that the party's image was being tarnished due to his association with astrologer Ashok Kharat.
Accusation of rape with woman
It is noteworthy that Astrologer Ashok Kharat, head of a temple trust in Mirgaon in Nashik district, was arrested on March 18. Ashok Kharat was accused of repeatedly raping her for more than three years. So far, eight FIRs have been registered against Kharat.
