Noida Police Broke The Network Of Drug Smugglers, 1920 Arrested In Three Years

Gautam Buddha Nagar Police has arrested 1920 drug smugglers in three years and destroyed their network. Police have seized huge quantities of narcotics including ganja, charas, MDMA coming from states like Bengal, Bihar and Odisha. The Commissionerate Police is taking action on the basis of continuous monitoring and intelligence information, so that the youth can be saved from drugs. An appeal has been made to the public to report suspicious activities.

Jagran correspondent, Noida. Gautam Buddha Nagar Commissionerate Police is continuously dismantling the network of drug smugglers. Police are cracking down on those who smuggle *Ganja* (Cannabis) from places like Bengal, Bihar, Odisha and Visakhapatnam and sell it in the NCR region by hiding it among other goods during transportation in trains and trucks.

In the last three years, the police force has registered 1,681 cases and sent 1,920 drug smugglers behind bars. Apart from invoking the Gangster Act against several criminals, the police are also proceeding with the process of confiscating their properties.

Police Commissioner Lakshmi Singh said that the Gautam Buddha Nagar Commissionerate Police has registered 1,681 cases under drug-related laws between January 1, 2023, and January 31, 2026. In connection with these cases, 1,920 accused have been arrested and sent to jail.

About 7,270 kg ganja, more than 9 kg charas (hashish), 105 kg MDMA (synthetic drug), 500 gm 'OG' ganja, 9 kg *doda* (poppy peels), 630 gm intoxicating powder and 885 intoxicating pills have been recovered from these persons. Additionally, 3,373 e-cigarettes have also been seized.

Additional Police Commissioner Rajeev Narayan Mishra said that the police have been able to strengthen their hold through constant surveillance, intelligence gathering and precise strategic planning. Smugglers are being caught by keeping a close eye on suspicious activities and taking immediate action as soon as information is received.

In many cases, the police have also extended their operations to other states to nab the accused. These actions taken by the Commissionerate Police serve to weaken the drug networks and at the same time, help in saving the youth from drug addiction.

The Commissionerate Police also appeals to the public to report any suspicious activity to their local police station or dial 112. Such cooperation helps in realizing the dream of a drug-free society and a secure future.
