Iran Imposed Toll Of 2 Million Dollars In Hormuz, US Senator Said - This Is Trump's Own Created Crisis
Iran has begun imposing a $2 million toll on ships passing through the Strait of Hormuz, in what it says is a move to recoup the costs of the war and establish its sovereignty. US Senator Chris Murphy has called this situation a crisis created by America itself, in which $ 2 billion is being spent every day. Trump has extended the deadline, but Iran has refused talks and put forward its proposal. This is affecting the global oil trade and economy.

Digital Desk, New Delhi. The Strait of Hormuz remains the biggest choke point for the global economy amid the ongoing tension between America and Iran. US Senator Chris Murphy sharply criticized the war, saying the US was spending $2 billion (about Rs 17,000 crore) every day even though the strait was open before the war started.
Murphy said, "The problem is that the strait was open before the war started. We are now trying to solve a problem we created ourselves. This is madness!" He further said, "$2 billion is a huge amount. This is the minimum amount spent daily on war."
Iran starts $2 million toll
Iran has started charging a per-voyage toll of $2 million (about Rs 18.8 crore) from some ships passing through the Strait of Hormuz. Alaeddin Borojardi, a member of the Iranian parliament's national security committee, told state broadcaster IRIB that the move was part of recovering the costs of the war and establishing a "new sovereign order" on the strait.
"Charging $2 million in transit fees from some ships shows Iran's power. There is a cost to the war, so we have to collect fees from the ships," Boroujardi said. At the same time, US President Donald Trump has extended the deadline given to Iran to open the Strait of Hormuz by 10 days.
What is the new deadline now?
Trump claimed talks were going "very well", but Iran denied any talks. Iran rejected the US offer and made its own five-point proposal, which includes compensation for the war and recognition of its sovereignty over the Strait of Hormuz. Israel launched new attacks on Iran on Friday and warned that attacks would "increase and expand".
About one fifth of the world's oil and gas passes through the Strait of Hormuz. Due to its closure, global oil prices have increased, stock markets have been affected and pressure on the economy has increased. Tension in the region is at its peak due to the America-Israel war.
Senator Chris Murphy warned that this “self-inflicted crisis” is causing US military deaths, huge costs and economic losses to the entire world.
