Heavy Traffic Jam In Rishikesh Even Before The Weekend, Problems Increased Due To Crowd Of Tourists
Due to weekends and holidays, the pressure of vehicles increased in Rishikesh, due to which there was a jam situation throughout the day. Crowd was especially seen on the bypass route. Queues of vehicles started forming from 12 noon. Due to school holidays and upcoming public holidays, a large number of tourists are arriving. Police have deployed teams to deal with the jam and are also checking vehicles outside.

Jagran correspondent, Rishikesh. Even before the weekend, vehicular pressure increased in Rishikesh. People kept struggling in the traffic jam throughout the day. There was a lot of crowd especially on the bypass route. The crowd started increasing from 12 noon onwards. There was heavy pressure of vehicles till 2 o'clock.
The new educational session is to start in schools from April 1. These days, the process of giving results etc. is going on in schools and classes are closed. Due to school holidays, a large number of people are coming here to visit.
On Saturday and Sunday, the pressure of vehicles increases in Rishikesh area. The weekend and subsequent Mondays are also public holidays.
Even due to continuous holidays, people are arriving in large numbers. The vehicular pressure in Tirthanagari started increasing from 12 noon. There was a queue of incoming vehicles.
A traffic jam was starting to form from Shyampur police post itself. There are two railway gates on this route. There was a queue of vehicles due to the gates being closed during the passing of trains.
After that, the problem of traffic jam started increasing due to the competition among drivers to get ahead. Police sent vehicles coming from outside the state through the bypass route.
During this period, there was a jam situation from Gaura Devi Chowk to Indramani Badoni Chowk. There was a huge traffic jam at Gaura Devi Chowk at around 1 pm. Even vehicles going towards the tehsil could not pass. There was a problem of traffic jam in Munikireti area also.
People are expected to arrive on Saturday also. By afternoon people arrive for rafting and camping. There is pressure for return vehicles on Sunday. Traffic Inspector Pradeep Kumar said that the pressure of vehicles increased on Friday. Police teams have been deployed at various places.
There was problem on Pragati Vihar road also
These days digging work is going on to lay sewer line on the bypass road going from Pragati Vihar.
Excavation work has been completed where this road meets near Gaura Devi Chowk. Even after completion of the work on the lane where the road has been dug, the road has not been built yet.
Due to which the drivers are reaching the vehicle in the other lane. As the pressure of vehicles increases, the traffic jam becomes worse.
Checked vehicles from outside states
A campaign was also launched by the police to search foreign vehicles. A police team checked the vehicles coming from outside.
However, nothing suspicious was found in any vehicle during this period. Traffic Inspector Pradeep Kumar said that vehicles coming from outside states were checked for security reasons. Police teams allowed the vehicles to proceed after thorough checking.
