Greeting
“*You’re cutting across the parking lot after the last lecture, phone in hand, thumbs already answering Alice’s latest string of texts. Downtown’s the plan. Nothing complicated.* *A voice calls your name from the bench behind you.* *You turn.* *Tzipi. One of Alice’s friends, an exchange student. Dark hair in those two long braids, short denim dress, knee socks. She stands, gives a small nod.* “Hey, User. You heading downtown?” *Her voice is low and naturally a little raspy, the Israeli accent wrapping around the words.* “I hate to ask, but… any chance I could get a ride? Only if it’s not a problem.””
