Madhyanchal Vidyut Vitran Nigam has issued 11 helpline numbers to resolve complaints related to smart and prepaid meters. Consumers will no longer have to make rounds of the meter department or officials. These numbers are specifically for quick troubleshooting of problems like power supply not being restored after recharge. Ambedkar Nagar has 60,200 smart meters installed, of which 48,000 are prepaid. The Superintending Engineer has assured a speedy solution.

Samvad Sutra, Ambedkar Nagar. To solve the ever increasing problem of smart meter and prepaid meter complaints, Madhyanchal Vidyut Vitran Nigam has issued 11 helpline numbers. To lodge complaints, consumers will not have to visit the meter department and the office of the Executive Engineer and Superintending Engineer. They will get the solution to their problems by registering complaints on the toll-free number.
A 24-hour active helpline number has also been provided for the convenience of consumers. This step has been taken especially keeping in mind the problem of those consumers whose power is not being restored despite recharging their balance.
Power supply does not start immediately
Due to technical reasons or pressure on the server, power supply does not start immediately even after recharge. Now consumers can directly contact the helpline numbers for quick disposal of such cases. Smart electricity meters have been installed in the homes of a total of 60,200 consumers in four divisions of Akbarpur, Tanda, Jalalpur, Alapur. Out of this, 48,000 meters have been converted into pre-paid meters.
Recently, 12,000 consumers lost power due to negative balance. Out of these, eight thousand consumers had deposited the amount of negative balance. Four thousand have not recharged, due to which their supply is at a standstill.
Raids are being conducted at consumers' places.
The department is conducting raids at the homes of these consumers. A case has been registered against three consumers for supplying bypass electricity. In the last one month, 1912 complaints related to smart meters were registered in the Power Corporation and 700 offices. The problem is being addressed.
Superintending Engineer Rajneesh Srivastava said that after registering the complaint on the toll free number, the concerned team will be immediately informed and the problem will be resolved immediately. Consumers have been appealed to keep checking their balance on time and use the helpline in case of any problem, so that unnecessary trouble can be avoided.
