Tele-ICU services will be started in Jammu and Kashmir on hub-and-spoke model for the care of critical patients. In this, expert advice will be provided from tele-radiology. Health system, medical education and infrastructure are being strengthened with the support of NITI Aayog. There is also a focus on liver transplant, cancer care, food security and drug de-addiction. Along with the increase in MBBS and PG seats, there will also be faculty exchange.

State Bureau, Jammu. To improve the care of critical patients in the state, tele-ICU services will be started on hub-and-spoke model. In this, timely investigation and expert advice will be provided through tele-radiology services. After investigation by NITI Aayog, the tender process has been started for this.

Briefing Chief Secretary Atal Dullu during a meeting here, M Raju, Commissioner Secretary, Health and Medical Education Department, said that three working groups have been formed to focus on service delivery, medical education and emergency and trauma systems. Apart from this, liver transplant and advanced treatment services are being developed in collaboration with the Institute of Liver and Biliary Sciences.

Need for continued support from NITI Aayog

Special emphasis is being laid on improving the health system, strengthening infrastructure and enhancing the quality of services across the Union Territory. Emphasizing the need for continued collaboration with NITI Aayog, the Chief Secretary said that many schemes have been successfully implemented through this partnership. He took information from the principals of government medical colleges about the efforts to increase MBBS and postgraduate seats.

Commissioner Secretary Raju said that with the expansion of MBBS and postgraduate education, collaboration is being increased between MBBS, Sher-e-Kashmir Institute of Medical Sciences and government medical colleges. This includes faculty exchange, joint research, shared use of academic resources and establishment of virtual medical boards.

A comprehensive strategy is being prepared

A comprehensive plan is being implemented to strengthen regulations in the field of food safety in collaboration with the Food Safety and Standards Authority of India. In this the focus is being placed on the tourist season. A comprehensive strategy for cancer care is being prepared in collaboration with ICMR, which includes cancer registries, molecular oncology centers and prevention programmes.

More than 900 counselors have been trained for drug de-addiction and mental health and a survey has been planned across the state. Mobile dental units, tele-dentistry and oral cancer screening will be promoted as part of the expansion of dental and preventive health services.
