Only by passing this entrance examination, students get admission in India's prestigious engineering institutes like Institute of Technology (IIT). To study engineering, two entrance exams are considered most important in India, JEE Main and JEE Advanced.

Who conducts the exam?
JEE exam is conducted for admission to engineering courses. JEE Main exam is conducted by National Testing Agency (NTA) and JEE Advanced exam is conducted by different IITs every year. JEE Main examination is conducted twice a year in the months of January and April, whereas JEE Advanced examination is conducted only once a year.
Where do you get admission?
One of the most asked questions among students is that in which institutions one gets admission after passing JEE Mains and JEE Advanced exams. Candidates who are successful in JEE Main exam get admission in 31 NITs, 26 IIITs and about 26 government funded technical institutes and various government and private engineering institutes of the country. Also, students who are successful in JEE Advanced examination can take admission in 23 IIT institutes of the country.
Who can appear in the examination
To appear in JEE Main examination, a student must have passed class 12th or should be studying in class 12th. To appear in this examination, students must have subjects like Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics in class 12th. Additionally, JEE Advanced can be attended by students who have secured top 2.5 lakh ranks in JEE Main exam.
How many attempts can you give?
Students are given three attempts to pass the JEE Main exam. One attempt students can give during class 12th and two attempts students can give two consecutive times after completion of class 12th. Along with this, students are given two attempts for JEE Advanced. Students can use one attempt during class 12th and the second attempt in the next year after completion of class 12th.
In JEE Main and JEE Advanced exams, questions are asked from Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics subjects on the basis of class 11th and 12th. But the difficulty level of both these papers is completely different from each other. MCQ and numerical questions are asked in JEE Main exam. Negative marking is done in MCQ questions, whereas there is no provision for negative marking in numerical questions.
Along with this, there are 2 papers in JEE Advanced exam and the duration of both the papers has been fixed at 3-3 hours. Not only does the number of questions change every year in the JEE Advanced exam, the pattern of marking also changes.
